Lemon Detox Diet - Information You Might Need

  • Jun 12, 2009

Lemon Detox Diet
The Lemon Detox Diet is recognized via various titles, you might have have heard it named The Master Cleanse, The Maple Syrup Diet, The Lemon Cleanse or The Cayenne Pepper Diet amongst others.

The cleanse is a complete body fast that needs to be undertaken for a minimum of ten days to achieve greatest results although many find this incredibly tricky. It is a liquid based detox and you mustn't eat any food whilst you are on the cleanse.

The daily practice commences with a salt water flush to rinse out the toxins from your body. Then you ingest between six and twelve cups of the cleanse during the day. The fast is a blend of freshly squeezed lemons, maple syrup, spring water and cayenne pepper. Lastly before retiring, you are required to drink a natural herbal laxative tea.

The Lemon Detox was initially created by a man called Stanley Burroughs and at the time he was looking for a natural way to heal stomach ulcers. After using the detox drink on many patients, there were lots of other benefits found and many more illnesses cured. After this Burroughs then called it the Master Cleanser as he felt that it was the 'master' amongst detoxes with the highest amount of benefits.

The benefits of the lemon detox are numerous, from a pour in energy to a feeling of serenity as your body rids itself of toxins that have clogged up in the body over the years. Days 1 -3 are normally the worst with some folks experiencing migraines as their bodies withdraw from caffeine. When you get past this stage it all becomes far more bearable and you will even start to love and embrace it.

In recent times there have been celebrities like Beyonce drawing attention to the Lemon Detox as she maintains to have lost approximately one and a half stone whilst on the fast in preparation for her role in Dream Girls. Whilst the lemon detox is a brilliant way to burn some quick lbs, it won't stay off beyond the fast is complete, unless you begin a healthy diet packed with raw foods, nuts, seeds and low fat foods.

On average a woman can lose up to 1lb a day on the cleanse and a man can lose up to 2lb a day. This might not happen at all within the first few days and depending on how long you remain on the lemon detox, you may also hit a plateau at some point too.

If you can do ten days on the Lemon Detox then your body will  be indebted to you. You can expect to have glowing skin, loads of energy, shiny hair, a feeling of sheer happiness (that normally kicks in around day 8) and a much trimmer waistline.

Many people remain on the maple syrup diet beyond ten days on a frequent basis. Some will do twenty one days and others will do around forty and it's completely safe to do this if you do it the right way. One woman detoxed for 372 days but that really isn't advisable although she said she felt amazing.

Pay attention to your body and if it's your first detox stick to the ten days. You can always do a cleanse every three to four months so you don't need to cram it all in one go.
